It doesn't always have to be this way.

The average child waits for an adoptive family for more than 3 years,
while 11% spend 5 years or longer waiting for a family.

At the Smith Family Foundation, it is our goal to be an instrumental stepping stone for children in foster care to achieve their future career or personal goals despite their circumstances. Thus we find the ages of 12 through 18, (prior to aging out of the foster care system) are the most pivotal points of impact for a child to believe in themselves and develop the necessary life-skills to achieve their dreams.

Our mission is to enhance the lives of children ages 12 through 18 in the foster care community by providing training, necessary resources and tools for the possibility of higher education or entrepreneurship once they ‘age out’ of care.

By lending an ear and offering a hand, The Smith Family Foundation’s purpose is to provide supportive programming which will enable children in the foster care community the ability to thrive regardless of their current circumstance. Our hope is to allow them to envision a brighter future and to work towards that future.

By instilling the virtues of Acceptance, Achievement, Courage, Fellowship and Perseverance, The Smith Family Foundation’s mission is to help prepare the children to live loving, healthy, well-balanced, productive and dignified lives.
